Excited and eager to help bring their experience and expertise to others, the four RSU 57 teachers co-trained with some assistance from Sue Reed, Early Childhood Specialist from Maine DOE who is leading the efforts to adapt the Prek for ME curriculum for Maine.
Soldiers from the 94th's Operations Platoon traded in their Army Combat Uniform for black coats and facemasks, and their rifles for paintball markers and simulated improvised explosive devices. This transformation was done in an effort to better train their comrades by providing a real-life enemy while they participated in situational training lanes at a field training exercise (FTX) at Camp Johnson, Vermont, May 16-18, 2014.
"Operations runs the company," said Cpl. Shayna Provencal, a military policeman with the 94th MPs. "We need to make sure that they're up to the standards of their training and that they understand why we are training them in certain things."
This FTX was designed to help prepare the company for its annual two-week training that is scheduled to be at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, California, this summer. To ensure that the OPFOR perform at a standard that will prepare the company for their annual training, they rely heavily on up-to-date classes on modern battlefield tactics.
In order for the line platoons to successfully navigate the training lanes, they are going to have to work together as a team, maintain strong communication, and adapt to the various scenarios that the OPFOR have planned for them. It's these same principles that allow the OPFOR to operate successfully as a challenging opponent, and having that strong opponent can be the difference between a successful mission and a failed mission.
Facing a formidable opponent during a training exercise like this does more than just give the Soldiers another challenge to overcome while they prepare for their annual training later this year; it also prepares them for a very real and lethal enemy in a deployed environment. So, when it comes to training, the more extreme the situation, the better prepared the Soldier.
"You're faced with the extreme of extremes during training so you're prepared for that instead of prepared for little stuff and get hit with the big stuff later," said Powe. "It's stuff like this that helps keep us alive downrange. It's important that we do things like this."
Training for the Soldiers of the 94th MP Company is something they take very seriously. However, like most training exercises not everything goes to according to plan, no matter how well thought out those plans are - sometimes the extremity of the training will result in a platoon failing its mission.
According to Powe, failure is what makes training so important. It exposes the weaknesses of the platoon and allows it to make corrections, offer remedial training, and better prepare its Soldiers for real combat situations where the difference a mistake makes could be life or death.
Whether a superhero trying to thwart his evil nemesis in a fictional metropolis, or a Soldier training for the day he's called upon to protect his country, it's important to have a good bad-guy. And for the Soldiers of the 94th MP Company's Operations Platoon, it's good to be bad.
FORT LEE, Va. -- The Quartermaster Field Training Exercise here is a capstone event in which thousands of advanced individual training Soldiers annually rehearse the technical and tactical tasks required to be operationally ready when they arrive at their first duty stations.
Each QMFTX - staged weekly among several training areas leading northward from A Avenue and 38th Street - is a three-night, four-day affair. It provides students with opportunities to demonstrate skills in warrior tasks and battle drills, scenario-based training and occupational specialties. Roughly 2,100 Soldiers participate in the QM School event on a monthly basis.
If not for their roles in the exercise, Jewett and his 20-or-so fellow HHC unit members would be fulfilling MOS-specific jobs throughout the brigade. Their QMFTX responsibilities under the Direct Support to the Training Exercise element include managing the brigade support areas as well as fulfilling roles as facilitators and graders, he said.
Spc. Michael Bailey, a 92F petroleum supply specialist with four years of service under his belt, has been working as a training evaluator since he arrived here a few months ago. He said engaging with future warriors has provided him a great sense of empowerment.
Bailey, who normally works on the grenade lanes, said he and others help prepare Soldiers for the graded events during round-robin training that includes tasks such as medical evacuation. Guiding students through the training and evaluating their performances has a cumulative effect on Bailey and his fellow evaluators: they learn just as much as those they are helping to train.
"I know it sounds cliché and corny, but for someone like me - a specialist who is promotable and ready to become a sergeant - the training is helping out," he said, noting his last job at Fort Carson, Colo., did not present such an opportunity. "The job is preparing me to train and communicate with my future subordinates."
Spc. Christopher Dennis, also a 92F, was in agreement, saying the countless interactions with students are immeasurable in helping to improve his troop leading skills. He also said the constant training pace acts as a refresher, helping to cement his ability to perform critical Soldier tasks.
Sgt. Kehinde Afolabi, Turner's fellow evaluator, said the work can get arduous due to the sheer amounts of Soldiers undergoing instruction. He said the workload, however, is countered by the potential rewards he and his fellow evaluators will likely reap when they are assigned to operational units.
More than 20,000 Soldiers this year will undergo training during the QMFTX. Many thousands more across the Sustainment Center of Excellence footprint will complete field evaluations conducted by the Ordnance School, the Army Logistics University and others.
Ocasio-Cortez will be leading the discussion along with fellow Democrat, Rep. Jim Himes of Connecticut, on Thursday to "discuss how they use Twitter as an effective and authentic messaging tool to connect with their constituents" and "the importance of digital storytelling," according to a notice sent to Democratic House members obtained by CNN.
The notice of the scheduled Twitter training was sent out by the chair of the House Democratic Policy & Communications Committee, Rep. David Cicilline, and the committee co-chairs, Rep. Matt Cartwright, Rep. Debbie Dingell and Rep. Ted Lieu.
The Buddhist facilitators, as the trainees were called, were asked to be reliable in politics and take a clear-cut and firm stance, which was one of four standards they were required to follow, the report said, citing the official Tibet.cn Jun 4.
The facilitators were stated to have been chosen based on the firmness of their political stance and competence. They were selected from Party cadres, grassroots farmers or herders, teachers, temple officials and patriotic religious personnel, a Tibet Daily report was cited as saying in 2017. It said the facilitators receive regular training to better spread knowledge and policy to the public.

We provide our students with tablet computers loaded with medical textbooks and online reference resources. When our students graduate, we intend to support their postgraduate training, and, at that time, we hope to facilitate access to all of the educational resources that the American College of Surgeons offers. 2ff7e9595c
